About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Restaurant and Bar Manager to join our team at the Marine Hotel in Paignton. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for leading and managing our restaurant and bar operations, ensuring exceptional customer service and maintaining high standards of quality and cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations of the restaurant and bar, including managing staff, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining quality standards.
  • Train and develop staff members in areas such as customer service, food safety, and restaurant policies.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the dining areas.
  • Manage customer complaints and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Manage budgets, control costs, and optimize profitability.
  • Coach staff to maximize sales by ensuring our team is upselling at every opportunity.
  • Create, implement, and maintain new operational procedures within the department.
  • Oversee the training and development of all restaurant and bar staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively assist guests.
  • Monitor the performance of all restaurant and bar staff, providing feedback, coaching, and support to ensure they meet performance targets and deliver excellent customer service.
  • Supervise the restaurant and bar team members to ensure all company procedures, standards, and brand values are being adhered to and delivered.
  • Conduct absence and performance management as per company guidelines.
  • Manage any conflicts or issues that arise among other employees, mediating disputes and finding solutions to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Function as duty manager for the hotel as part of a rota system.
Requirements
  • Previous restaurant management experience is necessary.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage a team.
  • Ability to coach and train teams.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Proficient in computer software applications related to restaurant management.
