Job Overview

Flexible Work Environment - Occasional Site Visits and Office Engagements.

Our client, a reputable independent construction consultancy located in Warrington, is in search of a Building Control Surveyor to enhance their team amidst ongoing expansion. The Building Control Surveyor will engage in diverse projects across various sectors including; Residential, Commercial, Leisure, and Educational facilities.

In this role, the successful candidate will spearhead compliance with BSA/Building Regulations PD. This position is non-regulatory, and registration as a Building Inspector is not a prerequisite.

It is anticipated that the ideal applicant will possess relevant experience in a comparable role.

Key Responsibilities of the Building Control Surveyor

  • Provide support to retained clients.
  • Prepare statutory documentation and information as requested by regulators through the gateway programme.
  • Conduct drop-in sessions at client offices to facilitate Building Regulations project health checks.
  • Engage with clients to discuss their project scope and approach.
  • Represent the business at Building Control partner workshops.
  • Monitor deliverables and compile monthly reports for clients.
  • Facilitate one-on-one technical review sessions with Designers.
  • Lead the implementation and ongoing development of company standards.
  • Oversee the Building Regulations and BSA Principal Designer role, contributing as part of the CDM team.
  • Advise design teams, clients, and developers on building regulations and the new procedural requirements established by the Building Safety Act 2022.
  • Deliver BSA / BR Principal Designer functions for selected projects.

Note that these are only selected responsibilities.

Requirements for the Building Control Surveyor Position

  • Valid driving license.
  • Experience in client-facing roles.
  • Professional membership: MRICS, MCIOB, or MCABE.
  • A minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience in relevant fields.
  • A relevant degree or diploma in Building Surveying.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
