Outlier is seeking experienced English writers to help train and improve generative artificial intelligence models. As a freelance opportunity, this role offers flexibility and the chance to work on a remote basis.

About the Opportunity
  • We are looking for talented writers with fluency in English to contribute to the development of AI models.
  • This is a reading and writing-intensive freelance opportunity with flexible hours, allowing you to work at your own pace.
Key Responsibilities
  • Read and evaluate English text produced by AI models to assess their quality and relevance.
  • Write and rewrite prompts and responses, which may involve research and fact-checking.
  • Assess the factuality and relevance of text produced by AI models.
Desirable Expertise
  • Experience as a professional writer or editor.
  • Currently enrolled in or completed an associate degree or higher in a writing-related discipline at an accredited institution.
  • A strong sense of writing style paired with exceptional English-language spelling and grammar as well as logic and reasoning skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to explain clearly the strengths and weaknesses of a given piece of text.
Compensation
  • Pay rates for core project work by English writing experts in the US average USD $15 per hour.
  • Rates vary based on expertise, skills assessment, location, project need, and other factors.
