Job Summary

Greater Manchester Mental Health NHSFT is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Community Mental Health Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical leadership and expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of individuals with severe and enduring mental health problems.

Main Duties

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking assessments of referrals and admissions to the service
  • Diagnosing and formulating management plans in complex presentations
  • Providing management in treatment-resistant and complex presentations
  • Assessing and managing risk, including vulnerability, suicide risk, risks to health and safety, and risk of harm to others
  • Preparing Mental Health Review Tribunal and Managers' Hearings reports and attending subsequent hearings
  • Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including external partners
  • Working in partnership with psychiatrists from partner providers, such as Forensic and Rehabilitation Psychiatrists

Leadership Role

As a Clinical Lead, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading clinical decision-making in the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high-quality care
  • Developing service clinical priorities in line with national and professional guidance and standards
  • Engaging with service transformation programmes, including attendance at Consultant meetings for their service and directorate
