About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and ambitious Commercial Manager to join our team at Tarmac Trading Limited. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for driving sales growth and revenue expansion across our Packed Products division.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a sales strategy to achieve revenue and contribution margin growth for new and existing customers.
  • Lead and manage a high-performing sales team to ensure all stated objectives, aims, and targets are achieved.
  • Collaborate with the Packed Products Director to develop and execute a sales plan that meets and exceeds annual sales forecasts.
  • Represent the company at conferences, trade fairs, and networking events to maintain and enhance relationships with key customers and partners.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to the sales team to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to meet customer expectations.
  • Develop and implement effective training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the sales team.
  • Monitor and analyze sales performance data to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to address them.
  • Work closely with the Technical Sales Managers and Internal Sales Team to agree account plans for priority customers and maintain personal relationships with key accounts.
  • Help develop the Specialist Products S&OP Sales forecasts and recommend pricing strategies to achieve revenue growth.
  • Identify resource requirements to achieve the Specialist Products sales strategy and engage, motivate, and develop the capability of the sales teams to excel and achieve standard sales performance.
Requirements
  • Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • Proven track record of managing, leading, and developing sales teams in the building materials sector.
  • Experience of project management and the development of compelling sales value propositions.
  • Strong understanding of selling and negotiation techniques, with the ability to handle complex and pressurized negotiations with key contractors and senior directors.
  • Entrepreneurial approach to improving profitability and value added to the company.
  • Ability to implement and manage change, and continuously seek means to improve the specialist business.
  • Proven analytical skills to identify problems or opportunities and recommend action with clear and concise facts.
