Position Overview

Opportunity Summary

An exciting opportunity exists for a Commissioning Engineer specializing in Critical Cooling Systems to join the Controls External Engineering team. This role provides a platform to develop a diverse skill set, ranging from advanced water system controls commissioning to the integration of systems with the ACIS Building Management System (BMS) and other emerging technologies. The position offers a pathway for career advancement towards senior roles in the team, including BMS commissioning, Project Engineering, and Project Management.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities associated with this position include:

  • Commissioning of cooling control projects and system integration (BMS/Energy Monitoring/HVAC controls/upgrade projects) at various sites.
  • Conducting site surveys and progress assessments.
  • Overseeing installation subcontractors as necessary.
  • Mentoring new team members and developing engineers.
  • Diagnosing and resolving site-related issues.
  • Collaborating with clients and Project Engineers/Managers.
  • Providing training to clients.
  • Delivering technical and engineering support as needed.
  • Working closely with the controls team to enhance efficiency and meet established targets.
  • Upholding high standards of quality control and site safety.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Demonstrating flexibility in the scope of work, from small tasks to large-scale data center system commissioning.
  • Willingness to travel for work assignments as required.
  • Availability for overtime work when necessary.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Practical experience with HVAC systems, including cooling and heating applications, preferably in a commissioning capacity.
  • Solid electrical knowledge with the ability to interpret electrical schematics.
  • Proficient in executing electrical modifications on HVAC systems.
  • A logical and systematic approach to problem-solving, demonstrating initiative.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possession of a CSCS card or equivalent certification.

Preferred Skills & Experience (Training will be provided for suitable candidates)

  • Familiarity with programmable controllers is advantageous:
  • Experience with Carel 1tool software and pCO controllers.
  • Knowledge of Trend SET and IQ controllers.
  • Experience with Tridium Niagara 4 and associated controllers.
  • Understanding of cooling systems.
  • Ability to comprehend and modify control strategies.
  • Awareness of BMS/DCIM and common communication protocols (Modbus, BACnet, TCP/IP).
  • Knowledge of IT systems, servers, and communication networks.
