Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Powertrain Integration/Component Engineer to join our team at Recruitment Bunker. As a key member of our powertrain team, you will be responsible for working with external engine and component suppliers and our packaging team to specify and design powertrain systems and components across a range of vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Quality and Safety Management: Manage and follow the quality, health, safety, and all policies of the company.
  2. Design and Project Engineering Support: Manage tasks with design and project engineering support within the powertrain team.
  3. Collaboration and Liaison: Work closely with the Design Engineering team and the packaging team to ensure seamless integration of powertrain systems.
  4. Powertrain System Design: Specification and design of powertrain as installed systems and components.
  5. Supplier Management: Liaison with suppliers to supply parts to internally developed specifications and designs.
  6. Part Selection and Integration: Selection of existing parts from the supply base and manage integration into the powertrain system.
  7. System Integration and Sign-off: Manage integration and sign-off of powertrain systems to meet vehicle programme targets.
  8. Technical Content and Evaluation: Support purchasing team by providing technical content for RFQs and technical evaluation of commercial offerings.
  9. Engineering Analysis and Design: Work closely with the Engineering Analysis team (FEA) to meet design targets and drive the most cost-effective solutions.
  10. Manufacturing Solutions and Engineering Change: Work closely with Manufacturing to agree feasible manufacturing solutions and to control the engineering change process. Ensure Design for Manufacture (DFM) philosophy is integrated into designs.
  11. Project Deliverables and Communication: Support Programme team to ensure project deliverables are achieved and maintain communication with internal and external customers and stakeholders on a regular basis.
  12. Team Support and Collaboration: Always support your team.
Requirements
  1. Engineering Degree or Equivalent: Engineering degree or equivalent within a relevant subject.
  2. Powertrain Experience: Experience of design and development of one or more major powertrain as installed components or systems (Cooling, Air intake, Exhaust, Fuel, Driveline, etc.).
  3. Flexibility and Adaptability: Ability to work flexibly within the role and adapt to the varying level of involvement required to support individual systems.
  4. Design and Engineering Knowledge: Confidence to advocate design solutions to the engineering team and to push for the right solution with an understanding of the compromises required.
  5. Design to Manufacturing Awareness: Awareness of design to manufacturing process.
  6. Communication and Organisational Skills: Strong communication skills, organisational skills, and time management.
  7. Drive to Learn and Improve: A drive to learn and improve at every opportunity.
  8. Teamwork and Support: Willingness to support others and a positive attitude towards mastering challenges and changes.
  9. Right to Work in the UK: Must have IDLR/Full Rights to Work in UK - Sponsorship or Work Permits will not be accepted/provided.
