Nuclear Fuel Technician

As a Defence Shift PIE Technician at National Nuclear Laboratory, you will play a vital role in the Post Irradiation Examination (PIE) programme. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Working as part of the PIE team to break down, inspect, and measure highly active materials.
- Operating equipment within the Active Handling Facility (AHF) on the Sellafield site.
- Maintaining strong working relationships with the immediate team, project management, and facility teams.
- Ensuring adherence to Health and Safety, Quality, and Security requirements.
- Performing equipment maintenance and training others as required.
- Maintaining logbooks and record sheets for sample testing and traceability.
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and accurately, maintaining traceability and quality at all times.
- Communicating and working with Technical Leads, Shift Team Leaders, and Capability Manager to provide design and operational support.
- Carrying out remote handling operations in AHF to deliver work packages as directed by the Shift Team Leader.
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential criteria:
- Experience working in an industrial environment and delivering work to time, cost, and quality.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team of operations and technical staff to deploy specially designed equipment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to take on technical information for training.
- First Aider at Work certification (training provided if needed).
- British citizenship as defined in the British Nationality Act 1981.
- Ability to obtain SC level security clearance.
