Job Title: Machinist
Location: Ipswich, Suffolk
Salary: £14-15 per hour, plus shift allowance for working a rotating shift pattern
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00 am - 2:00 pm and 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain manual machining tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses to produce or repair precision mechanical parts.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and design specifications to understand project requirements and plan machining operations accordingly.
- Set up, align, and secure work pieces on machinery, ensuring proper configuration and calibration of tools and equipment for each job.
- Perform accurate measurements using precision instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify dimensions and tolerances of machined components.
- Monitor the machining process, making adjustments to feed rates, cutting speeds, and tool positions to ensure quality and adherence to specifications.
- Inspect finished products for defects, ensuring they meet required quality standards and specifications.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, following safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with machinery or work pieces, making necessary repairs or modifications.
