Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Chapter Leader, Software Engineering to join our Digital Platforms & Infrastructure Technology department in Warwick. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the development of innovative capabilities and implementing processes that align with organizational goals, drive performance, and assure quality.
Key Responsibilities- Establish the right standards: Define expected practices and guardrails, ensure software engineering aligns with National Grid's future state blueprint and roadmap, and review and manage Chapter Lead performance.
- Develop the right skills: Map expected competencies and certifications against each role and level in the Chapter, design career paths, and partner with Learning and Development teams to design targeted training and certification curriculum.
- Deliver the right capacity: Track supply and demand for Chapter resources, collaborate with executive leadership to ensure Chapter members are allocated to impactful teams, and develop a recruiting strategy for Chapter members.
- Manage and deliver for internal and external stakeholders: Demonstrate subject matter expertise in development and innovation, ensure Platform Leads and stakeholders know available resources and knowledge, and collaborate with executive leadership to ensure Chapter members are allocated to impactful teams.
- Software Engineering Focus: Facilitate collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and best practice adoption across the software engineering community, establish and promote frameworks and guidelines for software architecture, design principles, and operational procedures, and drive software development and engineering expertise within the Chapter.
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional with a Master's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. You should have experience in strategic technology leadership, IT infrastructure, analytics, and outsourcing management, as well as experience leading, coaching, and developing people and teams.
You should also have deep technical and functional knowledge in a particular area of expertise, proven analytical skills, and experience making decisions based on hard and soft data. Additionally, you should have experience with resource planning and allocation within and across organizations, proficiency in developing custom business applications, and experience with ServiceNow and GitHub.
