Children's Respiratory Nurse Specialist

The post holder will work as part of the Children's Community Nursing Team and Children's Nurse Specialist Team, supporting and managing Children within the community and in the hospital with diagnosed Respiratory condition.
Main Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care delivery that supports the child/young person to remain in the community setting and where possible prevent hospital admission.
- Support the inpatient ward team to meet the needs of the child or young person and support with timely discharge.
- Collaborate across local and national networks for asthma, cystic fibrosis, long term oxygen and tracheostomy, ventilation at home management.
- Participate in service development and collaborative working across health, social care and multi-agencies for patients diagnosed with complex respiratory conditions.
- Work at times unsupervised, adhering to local guidelines and trust operational procedures, policies and established practice.
- Act as a role model to deliver high standards of care to the children and young people while supporting learners within the environment to develop their knowledge and skills.
- Support the continued education of unregistered, registered nursing staff, as well as the wider medical teams.
