Job Summary

Sellafield Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Ventilation Systems Engineer to join our Engineering and Maintenance team. As a Ventilation Systems Engineer, you will provide technical support and investigative expertise in support of new and existing ventilation systems.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and investigative expertise in support of new and existing ventilation systems.
  • Undertake ventilation asset condition and system health performance inspections, in line with the ventilation asset maintenance/management inspection programme.
  • Provide ventilation and filter commissioning support service to the Sellafield site.
  • Follow the company Standards and Expectations.
  • Provide a professional service to all customers.
  • Maintain compliance with all site safety rules, procedures, and instructions.
  • Ensure safety is maintained through appropriate training.
  • Provide expertise to ensure ventilation systems are fit for purpose and meet current standards.
  • Work closely with Reliability Engineers from across the business to manage the ventilation assets efficiently and effectively.

Requirements

  • Higher level qualification or equivalent training/experience in an engineering/maintenance discipline.
  • Experience of working at height and in confined spaces.
  • SC (Security Check) level Security Clearance, or the ability to achieve.
  • Chartered/Incorporated Engineer status or potential to achieve accreditation to an appropriate professional institute within the mechanical engineering field.
  • Experience of coaching and developing others.

Essential Skills

  • Higher level qualification or equivalent training/experience in an engineering/maintenance discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a ventilation and/or mechanical engineering environment, including experience and provision of technical support and investigative expertise in support of new and existing nuclear or industrial ventilation and/or mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Demonstrable experience of acting as a subject matter expert for both internal and external stakeholders for mechanical equipment.
  • Evidence of undertaking ventilation and/or mechanical asset inspections and system performance checks in line with an engineering or maintenance programme, ensuring/improving plant and equipment reliability and availability.
  • Experience of producing written reports and populating test sheets using standard IT software packages.

Desirable Skills

  • Chartered/Incorporated Engineer status or potential to achieve accreditation to an appropriate professional institute within the mechanical engineering field.
  • SC (Security Check) level Security Clearance, or the ability to achieve.
  • Demonstrable evidence of ventilation flow measurement techniques and associated test equipment.
  • Experience of providing ventilation commissioning support on new or modified ventilation systems, including undertaking, or having a sound knowledge of proportional balancing of ventilation supply and extract systems.
  • Experience of working safely at heights and within confined spaces.
  • Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) testing and reporting (P601 Training).
  • CSA Training (Level A, B, or C).
