Role Summary:

We are in search of a highly proficient Subject Matter Expert (SME) specializing in Smart Metering, Project Management, and Web Application Development. This role is integral to our operations team at HCLTech's Smart Meter Test Lab in Manchester. The selected candidate will assume multiple responsibilities, including Project Management, Development Leadership, and Smart Meter Expertise. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in smart metering, contributing to customer value through innovative solutions, enhancing testing capabilities, and evolving smart meter technologies. A results-oriented individual with exceptional stakeholder management and problem-solving skills is essential for driving continuous improvement and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the Smart Meter SME within the smart meter test lab.
  • Oversee end-to-end operations of the Smart Meter Lab as a Triage/Technical Specialist.
  • Design, develop, test, and manage the deployment of integrated lab management solutions on AWS cloud.
  • Coordinate with the lab operations team, development team, and management to ensure compliance with defined processes and policies.
  • Manage network operations by designing the lab network, performing O&M tasks, and ensuring network security through configuration of security patch upgrades and firewall rules.
  • Adapt swiftly to organizational needs and emerging technologies, leveraging technical expertise and business analysis skills.
  • Review processes and documentation, manage customer reports, and represent HCLTech in technical and management meetings.
  • Support customer innovation initiatives and engage in continuous improvement programs.
  • Establish proof of concept and drive business expansion efforts.
  • Lead customer programs focused on System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Integration Testing (UIT) involving multiple testing parties.
  • Collaborate with communication service providers to ensure interoperability of smart meters with 3G/4G (NB-IoT) solutions.
  • Oversee System Integration Testing (SIT), User Integration Testing (UIT), and defect triaging, including technical issue resolution.
  • Contribute to the development of the Smart Meter Lab.
  • Maintain the lab radio environment to meet testing requirements and ensure acceptable noise levels.
  • Engage with clients to analyze business requirements and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Prepare knowledge maps and manage knowledge transitions within the team.

Required Skills and Expertise:

  • In-depth knowledge of WAN, HAN, Zigbee, mesh networks, and smart metering standards.
  • Experience in Project Management within the UK smart metering sector.
  • Familiarity with smart metering protocols, network operations, and NB-IoT implementation.
  • Proficient in managing development projects and testing life cycle management, Agile-SCRUM, AWS, Django, and automation frameworks.
  • Knowledge of technologies such as React, JavaScript, jQuery, Jenkins, GitHub, and Kubernetes.
  • Hands-on experience in Python development and automation testing.
  • Expertise in testing Smart Electricity Meters and Communication Hub Antenna Structures (CHAS).
  • Skills in configuring network switches and managing firewall rules.
  • AWS certification and experience in resource management and solution deployment on AWS.
  • Proven track record in managing test teams and overseeing test labs for radio product validation.
  • Experience in configuring and testing LTE/5G RAN & NB IoT products.
  • Strong understanding of 4G/LTE architecture and protocols.
  • Proficient with signal testing tools and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with 5G technologies and standards.

Work Environment:

  • This role requires onsite presence with no remote work options.
  • Work hours are flexible within an 8.5-hour window between 8 AM and 6 PM.
