Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated ophthalmologist with specialized fellowship training in orbital and oculoplastic surgery. This role is designed to enhance our existing consultant team, which comprises a diverse group of professionals committed to addressing the evolving ophthalmic needs of our community. Join our esteemed medical team, recognized for its innovative research and collaborative approach across various departments including A&E, Ward, Theatre, Outpatient, and Diagnostic services.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting specialized orbital and oculoplastic services within a tertiary care environment, including the regional Ophthalmic A&E. Establishing Orbital Tumour Services and conducting Grand Rounds in partnership with allied disciplines will be prioritized. A fellowship in Orbital Surgery and proven experience in independent surgical practice are essential qualifications.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Entry on the Specialist Register in Ophthalmology (or expected within a specified timeframe).
- Clinical training and experience equivalent to the requirements for gaining CCT in Ophthalmology.
- Ability to independently manage acute ophthalmic and orbital emergencies.
- Fellowship or equivalent training in oculoplastic and orbital surgery.
Desirable:
- Extensive experience in the medical and surgical management of orbital conditions.
- Experience in risk management practices.
Teaching and Training
Essential:
- Capability to instruct clinical skills to medical and nursing staff, as well as other healthcare professionals.
- Ability to evaluate the performance of junior doctors and other staff members.
Desirable:
- Formal training in educational methodologies.
