Job Overview

Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our Community Neuro and Stroke Team. As a key member of our team, you will provide specialist care to adults with dysphagia and/or communication impairment following diagnosis of neurological injury/condition.

Main Responsibilities
  • Act as a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist within the Community Neuro and Stroke Team, providing specialist care to adults with dysphagia and/or communication impairment.
  • Provide advisory/educational service to patients, relatives, therapists, and other healthcare professionals in the specialist field of SLT.
  • Take a role in the specialist assessment and treatment of patients who may have complex and chronic presentation, and to determine clinical diagnosis and treatment indicated.
  • Manage a defined caseload using evidence-based/client-centered principles to access, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions.
  • Provide leadership and clinical supervision for other junior staff as delegated by manager and/or professional supervisor.
Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Diploma/Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • HCPC Registration.
  • Post-registration experience in neurological rehabilitation and condition management.
  • Experience of working with multi-agencies.
  • Experience of working in an interdisciplinary team and independently.
