At Historic England, we are dedicated to preserving and promoting England's rich historical heritage. We are currently seeking a Financial Systems Accountant to join our team. This position does not necessitate formal accounting qualifications, though familiarity with accounting principles is advantageous.

Contract Details

This is a fixed-term role with an end date in 2025. The position offers a hybrid working model, requiring at least one day of in-office attendance.

Key Responsibilities

As a Financial Systems Accountant, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining and enhancing the financial systems utilized by our organization and clients.
  • Developing comprehensive reports and providing user support within a shared service framework.
  • Leading the strategy for financial systems reporting, which includes the creation and improvement of reports using tools such as Crystal Reports and XQuery, as well as managing Excel-based reporting systems.
  • Addressing support queries by analyzing and manipulating data within the MS SQL database.
  • Collaborating with software vendors to implement updates, troubleshoot software challenges, and identify opportunities for system enhancements.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience in supporting financial systems with a user base exceeding 250 individuals.
  • Background in financial or performance reporting.
  • Proficiency in MS SQL, Crystal Reports, and XQuery.
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to engage with team members and the broader organization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
