About the Role

NLB Solutions is assisting a large business to recruit a Senior Management Accountant to join a large and expanding team.

The business has grown its team since acquiring and expanding its portfolio of international businesses.

The team manager has an excellent background in developing the team and providing support to members who need additional skills.

There is a culture across the business to help achieve long-term goals as a business and to help staff do the same.

The business requires an experienced management accountant who is CIMA, ACCA, or ACA qualified, managed a team previously, and understands both management and statutory accounts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Leadership: Supervising the team's preparation of monthly management accounts and assisting with issues or problems that arise.
  • Business Partner: Being the trusted business partner and first point of contact for any issues, proposals, or client-related matters that need escalation.
  • Cash Flow Management: Delivering periodic cash flow forecasts and distribution calculations with clear bridge analysis.
  • Annual Budgeting: Coordinating the annual budgeting process and ensuring full board approvals.
  • Board Reporting: Quarterly board reports and presentation of finance sections at board meetings.
  • Compliance: Ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, specifically with regards to OFGEM.
  • Banking: Managing bank compliance model preparation and loan covenant calculations, interest, and principal repayments, and any other banking requirements.
  • VAT Returns: Reviewing VAT returns for all asset-managed entities before submission.
  • Statutory Accounts: Overseeing the preparation of the statutory accounts and ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance with applicable accounting standards (FRS 101, FRS 102, IFRS) and Companies Acts for all asset-managed entities.
  • Consolidated Accounts: Preparation of consolidated annual accounts with applicable accounting standards featuring multiple operational entities and externally financed holding companies, which include complex accounting treatments.
  • Process Improvement: Supporting continuous improvements to accounting and reporting processes together with the wider Finance and ERP Development teams.
Person Specification
  • Qualifications: Must be a Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
  • Experience: Experience of monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounting routines within a commercial organization.
  • Communication: Ability to deal with multiple entities and multiple clients.
  • ERP System: Sound experience of using an ERP system (use of Agresso/Business World a distinct advantage but not essential).
  • Stakeholder Management: Experience in communicating with non-financial internal stakeholders.
  • Statutory Accounts: Preparation of statutory financial statements under IFRS, FRS 101, and FRS 102.
  • Process Development: Ability to set up processes, templates, and simplify.
  • Complex Templates: Experience of working with complex templates/spreadsheets is a must.
  • Team Management: Ability to work in collaboration with others effectively.
  • Leadership: Team management experience.
  • Accounting Knowledge: Understanding of both management and statutory accounting.
