About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Section Manager to join our team at Network Rail. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing a section of the rail network, leading a large maintenance team, and driving safety and efficiency across diverse works.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and develop a large maintenance team, ensuring they have the skills and resources needed to deliver high-quality work
  • Lead and implement change and improvement initiatives, promoting safe working behaviours and driving efficiency
  • Develop and implement comprehensive and compliant work programmes, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination
  • Manage budgets and drive engagement and development across the team, ensuring work is consistently delivered to performance, cost, and quality targets
Requirements
  • Experience of managing the production and delivery of a comprehensive and compliant work programme
  • Able to demonstrate, promote, and embed safe working behaviours within the team
  • Able to coach, influence, and develop others
  • Knowledge of discipline-specific maintenance, inspection, faulting, and renewal techniques
  • Able to lead and implement change and improvement initiatives
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, both in person and in writing
