We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Workshop Operations Specialist to join our team at Bosch. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our workshops, including the maintenance of equipment, management of supplies, and supervision of apprentices.
Key Responsibilities- Workshop Management
- Supervise and assist with the maintenance of workshops, ensuring that all equipment is in good working order and that supplies are properly managed.
- Develop and implement procedures for the efficient use of resources and the minimization of waste.
- Apprentice Supervision
- Supervise and mentor a workshop apprentice through their level 2 qualification, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Equipment Maintenance
- Maintain the Doncaster training fleet, ensuring that all vehicles are well-maintained and that recommendations for vehicle rotation and destruction are implemented.
- Technical Support
- Support the teaching of Motor Vehicle and Engineering by acting as a 2nd trainer as required, ensuring that students work in a safe manner in project and workshop areas.
- Support the development of workshop training aids for use within the technical programs.
- Communication and Liaison
- Liaise with the Brand, Quality, and Curriculum Managers to ensure the smooth running of the Motor Vehicle workshops and stores, reporting any problems that cannot be resolved.
- Health and Safety
- Ensure that equipment used in the area is efficiently maintained and that any delays due to breakdown are minimized.
- Produce estimates of parts and repairs necessary to refurbish equipment and carry out repairs within the workshops.
- Supply Chain Management
- Ensure that supplies of parts and consumable materials are efficiently and safely stored and that adequate stocks are kept at all times.
- End Point Assessment
- Support the End Point Assessment (EPA) process with technician duties and any support required throughout the process.
- Housekeeping and Maintenance
- Ensure that working areas are kept clean and tidy and that all necessary safety procedures are followed.
- Identify and resolve any problems relating to staff, equipment, or materials.
- Inventory Management
- Carry out regular stock checks of equipment, materials, and consumables and advise on any replacements required.
- Qualifications
- Hold a level 3 automotive qualification, preferably with light vehicle.
- A First Aid qualification or willingness to work towards.
- A Level 2 qualification (GCSE or Equivalent) in English & Maths or willingness to work towards within 2 years.
- Formal health & safety training or willingness to work towards within 12 months.
- Skills and Experience
- Actively engage in improving business processes by contributing ideas and suggestions.
- Communicate proactively and effectively at all levels, both externally and internally.
