East Anglia, United Kingdom PayPoint plc Full time
About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Platform Engineering Manager to lead the creation and maintenance of tools and infrastructure that enable our product engineers to work more efficiently and securely. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in developing standards and best practices, ensuring that our platform is robust, scalable, and dependable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain the central infrastructure that is foundational to our platform, including AKS clusters and API gateways.
  • Create and maintain standards and ways of working that enable us to manage key non-functional requirements, such as security and cost optimization.
  • Promote a culture of accountability and ownership by creating self-serve platform tooling that makes product engineers more efficient without relying on you and your team to get their code to production.
  • Collaborate with product engineers to understand their pain points and prioritize the platform engineering backlog.
  • Participate in architecture design sessions to ensure our platform capabilities are aligned with business goals.
  • Enable product engineers to build on the platform successfully through collaborating with teams, running knowledge sharing sessions, and maintaining clear documentation.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of IT professionals, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring continuous skill development.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders across the organization to identify needs, propose solutions, and provide updates on IT initiatives.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend and implement innovative solutions that provide a competitive edge.
Requirements
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or demonstratable knowledge of infrastructure and automation related technologies.
  • Experience in a similar role at a company with a distributed cloud architecture.
  • Experience with containerization and Kubernetes.
  • Experience implementing effective CICD pipelines, along with the associated scripting and automation skills.
  • You know what good platform engineering looks like and can help us shape the outcomes for this role.
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps and how to create secure delivery pipelines.
  • Ability to make pragmatic, risk-based decisions that balance the commercial objectives of the business with non-functional requirements of the technology platform.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
What We Offer
  • A rewarding experience working with us in a Hybrid role with visits to our head office.
  • A range of company benefits, including holiday purchase scheme, on-site gym, online benefits portal, progression and development opportunities, contributory company pension scheme, private medical insurance, life assurance, and more.
About Us

At PayPoint plc, we're committed to creating an inclusive culture where everyone can thrive and feel a sense of belonging. We're an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation, or age.
