Position Overview
Crest Nicholson's Chiltern Division is seeking a dedicated Land and Planning Assistant to provide vital support to our Land Manager and Senior Development Manager.
The ideal candidate will assist the Land department in ensuring the effective operation of land, design, and planning functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit planning applications for minor developments or community projects, while assisting with larger applications and amendments.
- Identify, assess, and facilitate the acquisition of new land opportunities.
- Negotiate leases and manage the sale of commercial properties and other disposals.
- Support the negotiation and contracting of affordable housing and bulk/PRS agreements, ensuring timely provision of accurate information in collaboration with our partnerships team.
- Develop obligation trackers for legal transactions, overseeing the fulfillment of obligations.
- Report directly to the Land Manager and Senior Development Manager, assisting with various tasks as needed.
- Effectively communicate with key internal and external stakeholders, promoting Crest's core values.
- Organize and participate in community engagement events related to proposed developments.
- Gather, evaluate, and report quotes from consultants.
- Process purchase orders for consultants and address all invoice inquiries for the Land team.
- Research relevant planning policies applicable to specific sites.
- Compile and analyze comparable sales data for site pricing.
- Create trackers for S106 financial contributions and non-financial obligations.
Candidate Profile:
- A Bachelor's degree in urban planning, real estate, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Prior experience in land acquisition, planning, or real estate is advantageous.
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to collect and interpret data from diverse sources.
- Solid understanding of construction costs, planning/build schedules, and technical/design challenges.
- Proven experience in managing land and planning projects, demonstrating a proactive and determined work ethic.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with a strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of interacting professionally with stakeholders.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of land use regulations, zoning laws, and planning processes is preferred.
- Familiarity with GIS software and mapping tools is a plus.
- Detail-oriented, capable of prioritizing tasks and making informed decisions as necessary.
- Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Training will be provided for the use of COINS, Project Vault, Pro-Map, Land Registry, and Right Move.
- Must be comfortable using equipment such as digital cameras, copiers/scanners, binding machines, plan plotters, and laminators.
