Job Summary

Energi People is seeking an experienced Mechanical Principal Engineer to lead the design and implementation of data centre projects across the UK, Europe, and beyond. As a key member of our team, you will provide technical leadership and expertise in critical cooling, ventilation, and fuel systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement mechanical system design strategies for data centre projects
  • Manage project delivery from concept through commissioning, ensuring timely and within-budget completion
  • Collaborate with clients and contractors to provide expert mechanical design guidance and support
  • Produce detailed schematics, specifications, and reports to meet project requirements
  • Drive sustainable and energy-efficient solutions across all phases of design, minimizing environmental impact
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control inspections and technical reviews on-site to ensure compliance with industry standards
  • Mentor junior engineers and foster growth within the team, promoting knowledge sharing and best practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Chartered Engineer (IET or CIBSE) certification
  • Extensive experience leading mechanical designs in the data centre sector, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality projects
  • Expertise in critical systems design, resilience strategies, and cooling technologies
  • Strong knowledge of UK & EU standards and regulations, including health and safety protocols
