About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our team at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust. As a clinical expert in communication disorders, you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and managing complex communication problems in children and young people.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist speech and language therapy services to inpatients and outpatients with communication and airway difficulties.
  • Take on a leadership role within the Speech and Language Therapy Service, supporting the team lead to provide a high-quality, evidence-based service.
  • Work as an independent practitioner, accessing the Department's supervision system and seeking peer support from other specialist practitioners.
  • Monitor and evaluate own service delivery, providing progress reports to the Team Leader/Clinical Expert.
  • Present the specialist subject in an evidence-based framework to a wide range of audiences.
  • Initiate, plan, and implement research, development, and audit activities in conjunction with the Team Leader, Head of Speech and Language Therapy, and the multi-disciplinary team.

Requirements
  • Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Qualifying Degree or equivalent.
  • Registered Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
  • Recognised postgraduate courses/training in communication difficulties associated with voice, complex airway, and head and neck surgical interventions (Adults and/or Paeds).
  • Health Professions Council license to practice.
  • Basic level dysphagia competencies.
  • Training in clinical and student supervision.
Desirable
  • Post-accreditation Master's Degree.
  • Formal Leadership Training.
