Winter Service Gritter Driver Role

Norse Highways is seeking a qualified LGV Class C1 Licence driver to join our gritting teams across Norfolk. As a casual Winter Service Gritter Driver, you will be responsible for delivering an essential service to residents and road users in the area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operating a gritting vehicle to maintain safe passage for road users during winter months
  • Working on a casual employment basis, with hours dependent on weather conditions
  • Responding to gritting action throughout the winter season on an AM/PM shift pattern
  • Learning an allocated route and operating relevant plant and machinery
  • Carrying out vehicle checks prior to commencing day-to-day work

What We Offer:

  • A competitive hourly rate, with increased rates for evening and weekend shifts
  • A standby payment throughout the 26-week season
  • The opportunity to be part of a dedicated team helping to deliver this essential service

Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a professional LGV Driver with LGV Class C1 Licence and CPC Qualification
  • City & Guilds Winter Service Operation Certificate or willingness to complete training funded by Norse Highways
  • Previous experience operating relevant plant and machinery
  • Ability to learn an allocated route and operate a gritting vehicle
