Ecologist Role Overview

Penguin Recruitment is seeking a skilled Ecologist to join their team in Sussex. As an Ecologist, you will work with a leading independent consultancy specialising in environment, planning, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct protected species surveys and coordinate mitigation projects.
  2. Advise clients on regulatory requirements and prepare Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) reports.
  3. Lead a team of ecologists to deliver cost-effective project solutions.

Requirements

  1. A relevant degree and 3+ years of professional experience.
  2. Strong knowledge of UK and European environmental legislation.
  3. Proven experience in fieldwork and report writing.
  4. Full membership (or eligibility) of CIEEM and a full UK driving licence.
  5. Holding a Natural England protected species licence (e.g., Bat Class 2 or GCN Class 1).
  6. Experience with Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG).
