Position Overview

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care under the guidance of senior nursing professionals and general practitioners. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing guidance on immunizations for both children and adults.
  • Conducting health promotion initiatives and well-being clinics, offering comprehensive assessments and lifestyle recommendations regarding nutrition, smoking cessation, alcohol consumption, and physical activity.
  • Documenting patient consultations in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Maintaining knowledge of local and national clinical safeguarding protocols, including the ability to identify potential signs of child maltreatment.
  • Carrying out thorough assessments for patients requiring ear irrigation.
  • Administering cervical cytology smear tests with a holistic approach.
  • Performing venepuncture in accordance with established local protocols.
  • Implementing evidence-based practices for wound management and care.
  • Executing cardiopulmonary resuscitation in line with current UK guidelines.
  • Obtaining and recording informed consent from patients.
  • Providing basic wound and ulcer care, including suture removal.
  • Conducting initial medical assessments for new patients.
  • Performing urinalysis, ECGs, peak flow assessments, and blood pressure monitoring.
  • Assisting and chaperoning patients during examinations by other healthcare professionals.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the cleanliness and organization of clinical spaces, including the management of medical supplies.
  • Ordering and maintaining stock levels of vaccinations.
  • Keeping accurate records and reporting any potential issues to senior nursing staff.
  • Participating in practice meetings and contributing to team discussions.
  • Occasionally conducting home visits as required.

  • Monitoring and maintaining cleanliness and safety in clinical environments.
  • Identifying and addressing health and safety risks promptly.
