Job Title: AML Compliance Officer Legal

Our client is a leading multi-national energy company seeking a highly skilled AML Compliance Officer Legal to join their team.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and implement a Global Commercial Compliance plan, ensuring consistency across international teams and adapting to regional differences as needed.
  2. Ensure Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) compliance, including completing regulatory requirements such as FCA returns and reporting executed derivative transactions to an approved trade repository.
  3. Provide timely and accurate advice on compliance and regulatory issues, monitoring changes to regulatory requirements and exchange rules, and communicating impact to relevant stakeholders.
  4. Review and revise existing Commercial Compliance policies and procedures to ensure alignment with external regulatory requirements and internal corporate standards.
  5. Conduct risk-based third-party due diligence and screening, obtaining due diligence documentation from potential new counterparties.
  6. Assist with ongoing financial crime monitoring, investigating alerts from automated screening tools.
  7. Ensure AML records are created and retained in accordance with FCA retention requirements.
Requirements:
  1. Experience in a compliance function of an energy company or financial institution is advantageous.
  2. Familiarity with UK financial services regulation (FCA Handbook) and commodity exchange regulations.
  3. Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and exchange rules, applying them to a commercial energy business.
  4. Knowledge of UK Anti-Money Laundering regulations, including POCA, FCA rules, JMLSG guidelines, and the UK Money Laundering & Terrorist Financing Regulations.
  5. Experience with screening and due diligence tools, such as BVD's Compliance Catalyst or Refinitiv World-Check One.
  6. Understanding of multiple legal entity structure types and associated documentary requirements.
