We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join our Haematology and Transfusion team at Sussexcommunity. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a dynamic and patient-focused environment.
Job OverviewThe successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out Haematology and Blood Transfusion investigations on samples of blood and body fluids to aid in the diagnosis of disease and monitor the treatment of patients. This will involve working as part of a team of Biomedical Scientists to deliver a patient-orientated medical laboratory service.
Main Responsibilities- Providing reliable and accurate analytical data for the Trust, in accordance with relevant regulatory standards and requirements.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve departmental quality standards.
- Supervising, training, and guiding laboratory staff as required.
- Deputising for Senior Biomedical Scientists as needed.
- Providing specialist advice to clinicians on test appropriateness and timescales.
- Participating in the agreed working patterns of the department to provide a safe and effective service.
- BSc (Hons) or equivalent in Biomedical Sciences.
- Registration with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Biomedical Scientist.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Experience with Biorad IH500 and extensive Haematology and Transfusion practice.
- Experience of APEX or Winpath LIMS would be advantageous.
