Job Title: Chief Data Engineer

At ENGINEERINGUK, we are seeking a highly skilled Chief Data Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Product Data Domain, you will play a crucial role in building and maintaining our data infrastructure, ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and scalability of our data pipelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop robust and scalable data pipelines to ingest, transform, and analyze large volumes of structured and unstructured data from diverse data sources.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance data quality, governance, and security across the organization, ensuring compliance with industry best practices.
  • Develop and implement automation workflows, including monitoring and alerting, to ensure seamless data processing and minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create value with data across the wider organization, including product analytics developers, product data managers, data modelers, and data operations managers.
  • Establish and maintain high standards for coding, testing, and other engineering practices, ensuring the delivery of high-quality data products.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in a data engineering or analytics engineering role, preferably in digital products.
  • Extensive experience in building ETL pipelines, ingesting data from diverse data sources, including event streams and batch processing.
  • Excellent SQL and Python skills, with experience in deploying and scheduling code bases in a data development environment.
  • Good working knowledge of cloud technologies, such as AWS and GCP, and data warehousing technologies, such as AWS Redshift, GCP Big Query, or Snowflake.
  • Demonstrable experience of working alongside cross-functional teams, interacting with product managers, infrastructure engineers, data scientists, and data analysts.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in an agile, multi-disciplinary team environment.
