Clinical Scientist Consultant

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Principal/Consultant Clinical Scientist to join our Biochemistry Department at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract that offers a unique opportunity to work with a great team committed to providing high-quality service and growing the next generation of Biomedical scientists through apprenticeships and collaboration with surrounding universities.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide clinical guidance and scientific advice to clinicians on test selection, performance, and interpretation to facilitate diagnosis, treatment, and understanding of disease.
- Offer consultant clinical expertise and advice to hospital clinicians, general practitioners, and external users of the Clinical Biochemistry service.
- Interpret complex clinical and pathological data and be responsible for the clinical authorisation of laboratory reports.
- Develop and review evidence-based clinical guidelines in conjunction with consultant colleagues and clinical users.
- Participate in ward rounds and clinical discussion meetings to provide advice on biochemical tests.
- Deputise for the Clinical Director for support services as required.
- Contribute to the strategic direction and clinical leadership of the Clinical Biochemistry service within the context of patient-centred care.
