Job Title: Biologist - Microbiologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Biologist - Microbiologist to join our team at Hudson Shribman. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in supporting our company's areas (R&D / plant sites) to achieve and maintain microbial free status.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform microbiological analysis of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
  • Conduct biocide efficacy testing studies in support of the business.
  • Culture collection development and maintenance.
  • Support the business with microbial safety and quality issues.
  • Investigate customer complaints and other sources of nonconforming work.
  • Carry out plant hygiene audits to identify processes, practices, equipment, and raw materials contributing to microbial contamination.
  • Plan and execute project work to develop applications and knowledge.
  • Liaise with internal and external contacts to track and communicate service activity status.
  • Develop and maintain awareness in relevant technical fields.
  • Provide technical support to operations, R&D, sales, quality, and regulatory as required.
  • Sample log in and reporting using LIMS system.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety programs by identifying, reporting, and improving safety-related issues in the local laboratory area.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
  • Order goods and services using SAP.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Degree in Microbiology, Biological Sciences, or Biotechnology (Biology, Biochemistry).
  • Full training given, but practical work from a university project or placement year is desirable.
  • Commercial experience is very desirable.
  • Desirable - Microbiology experience in a Class II Microbiology Laboratory in the food, pharmaceutical, or chemical industry.
  • Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practice and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
  • Any knowledge of preservative efficacy testing, testing for biocides, supporting bioburden or challenge tests is desirable.
  • Experience of working in an accredited laboratory (ISO 17025).
