Senior Design Engineer - Warship Aviation

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Design Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the production of estimates and design requirement specifications, developing and promoting new technologies, and taking technical or design authority for sub-systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the production of estimates and design requirement specifications.
  • Develop and promote new technologies for implementation across businesses and programmes.
  • Take technical or design authority for sub-systems.
  • Produce Layout Drawings for aviation compartments for stakeholder review and accurate modelling.
  • Update Windchill PLM with mature parts, systems, occurrences, and compartment data to present the baseline design.
  • Write and update Technical Equipment Specifications and coordinate with suppliers for specification compliance.
  • Coordinate with systems engineers and detail designers on the integration of aviation systems.
  • Support Design Reviews and Zonal Reviews.
  • Support the development of Aviation documentation.
  • Undertake functional design and/or provide qualification and evidence for acceptance, fitness for purpose, legislative requirements, and safety.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge and experience of naval and/or commercial ship systems, with the capability to support system and spatial integration issues with other disciplines.
  • Proficiency or experience with ship aviation design is desirable.
  • Competency in using CAD software such as AutoCAD or FORAN is desirable.
