Job Title: Head of Religious Studies Department

MLK Education Search is excited to support a community Academy in Southwark with an exceptional opportunity for an outstanding senior teacher and leader to head up their thriving RS Department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead teaching within the RS Department and provide strategic oversight of Key Stage 3 and 4.
  • Plan ahead for the growth into Key Stage 5 for the first time in the school's history.
  • Manage a team of staff within the department and contribute to the development of teaching, learning, and assessment.
  • Stay up-to-date with statutory guidance for RSE and Health Education and communicate with families and students about curriculum and delivery.
  • Contribute to the development of RS across the federation and consistently plan and deliver outstanding lessons.
Requirements:
  • Up-to-date knowledge of curricular guidance and the ability to work within established Academy and department frameworks.
  • Excellent ICT skills and the ability to use technology as a core tool in teaching.
  • Good knowledge of a wide range of teaching methods and the ability to implement them in the classroom.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
