Position Overview
This is a full-time, permanent role within our technical team, based in our Jersey office. The successful candidate will oversee the creation of internal mechanical and electrical installation designs and manage external building services consultants as necessary.

All production documentation must adhere to Dandara standards and be integrated with other construction design information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality domestic plumbing, mechanical, and electrical designs, along with specification documentation and design calculations for both residential and commercial projects.
  • Ensure that design deliverables align with the established design schedule.
  • Facilitate comprehensive coordination between mechanical and electrical services, as well as architectural and structural production information.
  • Provide mechanical and electrical specification documentation prior to the commencement of site activities and throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Negotiate fees, instruct, and coordinate external mechanical and electrical design consultants when necessary.
  • Manage external design information, including review, collation, registration, and distribution of documents produced by external consultants or contractors.
  • Issue electronic and hard copies of drawings received from consultants, ensuring proper registration.
  • Conduct financial evaluations of mechanical and electrical specifications to promote value engineering and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Perform building and site surveys, obtain quotations, negotiate rates, instruct consultants, and coordinate the execution of works.
  • Compile information for and produce Operation and Maintenance manuals for Electrical and Mechanical Services for individual domestic or commercial property purchasers or tenants.
  • Collaborate with various departments regarding development projects, including engineers, surveyors, buyers, interior designers, and the construction team.
  • Explore new technologies related to building services installations.
  • Assist in the preparation of tender documentation.
  • Coordinate with contractors on-site.
  • Oversee general contract administration.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections.
  • Arrange copies of information for other departments, consultants, and site contractors as needed.
  • Engage with building control authorities, fire authorities, and other regulatory bodies relevant to building services design.
  • Coordinate with utility service providers.
  • Maintain records of design changes to facilitate the creation of 'as constructed' drawings upon project completion.
  • Produce design risk assessments for in-house designs and obtain them from project consultants and design contractors.
  • Collaborate with the external Health and Safety Project Coordinator and internal Safety Manager/Advisors.
  • Assist in evaluating design and build tenders.
  • Address and resolve design issues raised by the construction management team.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a motivated individual with extensive experience in residential and/or commercial projects, capable of leading and managing a building services team.

Possessing a degree in services engineering or an equivalent qualification (HND/ONC in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering), you will have strong AutoCAD skills, and familiarity with iSBEM and IES is advantageous.

Experience with BREEAM assessments is also preferred. The successful candidate will be a team player, self-driven, and able to work independently. Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel and Word, is essential.
