Senior MRI Radiographer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior MRI Radiographer to join our Radiography Department in a dynamic and innovative healthcare environment. As a Senior MRI Radiographer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our patients receive the best standard of care while generating high-quality images to support their healthcare pathway.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver exceptional patient experience by providing a high level of care and support to patients attending MRI scanning, from referral to results.
  • Ensure equipment quality by running quality assurance checks and taking appropriate action to maintain optimal performance.
  • Respect and accommodate patients' and service users' customs, values, and spiritual beliefs, making sure their views are sought and taken into account.
  • Perform triage functions of referrals, as required, to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
  • Support patient bookings and maintain accurate and up-to-date patient information systems.
  • Complete competency assessments to ensure ongoing professional development and expertise.
  • Adhere to operational procedures to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment to ensure a healthy and productive work environment.
  • Assist in the development of colleagues by supporting placement students and other team members in achieving their learning outcomes.
  • Share knowledge and expertise with the wider team to support each other's growth and development.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Radiography or equivalent qualification.
  • Membership of a professional body and holds a valid registration (HCPC).
  • Strong understanding of MRI physics and different scanning techniques and sequences.
  • Proven knowledge of radiographer's role regarding patient care, careers, and colleagues.
  • High level of professionalism and technical standard of work.
  • Aptitude towards improving quality and patient care.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Understanding of data protection and confidentiality principles.
  • Flexible approach to work and able to work across 7 days (Mon-Sun).
  • Strong team player attitude, being supportive, caring, reliable, and trustworthy.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and in a busy environment.
  • Positive attitude and pride in work, with a passion for delivering excellent patient care.
Desirable Experience:
  • Experience working with MRI equipment in a hospital or mobile setting.
  • Experience in routine and complex MRI examinations.
  • Experience in various courses such as infection control training, manual handling, basic life support.
  • Experience scanning with contrast agents.
  • Experience in health and safety policies and procedures with imaging equipment.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Experience supporting colleagues in their development and training.
