About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and innovative leader to join our Education Directorate as an Assistant Director for Education. This is a key role that will play a critical part in shaping the future of education in Essex.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on the strategic delivery of educational outcomes for all children and young people in North East Essex.
  • Develop and implement a vision for a SEND system that identifies and assesses need at an earlier stage and provides appropriate support.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to build effective partnerships and drive improvement in inclusive practice in schools, early years settings, and colleges.
  • Ensure that our SEND services are effectively managed and deployed to meet our SEND responsibilities to a high standard.
  • Develop and lead on the strategic oversight of the quadrant, working closely with the corporate perspective to ensure education meets ECC strategic priorities and statutory duties.

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced leader who can engage and inspire colleagues from across Essex and the wider system in a shared vision for education. The successful candidate will have:

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of the education environment and its challenges.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering continuous improvement within the education sector.
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
