Your Responsibilities

As the Commercial Project Lead, you will need to exhibit flexibility, confidence, and a persuasive approach. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating all commercial dimensions of Energy Asset Projects.
  • Functionally overseeing the execution of all commercial aspects, particularly the management of major contractors and contractual relationships.
  • Negotiating with suppliers and contractors to align with project goals.
  • Understanding the claims management process and knowing when to seek specialized procurement, legal, and claims management assistance.
  • Collaborating in a multinational environment across various staff levels.
  • Working alongside the Project Management Office and, depending on project scale, supporting or managing Project Controller and Risk Manager activities.
  • Making binding financial commitments under time constraints and pressure.
  • Defending financial positions, whether favorable or unfavorable, to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Navigating ambiguous situations requiring careful judgment with potential long-term and legal implications.
  • Managing the commercial aspects of multiple projects concurrently, adapting to project demands from various locations.
  • Assuming budgetary responsibility for authorizing sufficient funds for Asset Projects and ensuring compliance with authorized financial thresholds.
  • Implementing change control mechanisms to maintain compliance with Uniper's financial policies.
  • Overseeing cost calculation, forecasting, and reporting for Asset Projects, utilizing resources from across the organization.

Your Profile

Essential Qualifications:

  • Academic background in a technical field and/or an MBA, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience in a commercial environment supporting complex technical projects.
  • Proficient in managing competitive procurement processes for Energy Asset products and services.
  • Expertise in contractor negotiation and management.
  • Proven ability to build credible relationships with technical, financial, procurement, and legal teams.
  • Familiarity with project management skills, processes, and activities.
  • Practical experience in commercial project risk management.
  • Deep understanding of complex technical, economic, and contractual relationships in Asset Projects, including various contracting types.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to be assertive and convincing.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement through learning and application across projects.
  • Embracing diversity management by evaluating situations from multiple perspectives and leveraging cultural differences.
  • Fluency in English.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Project management certification.
  • Knowledge of various energy technologies, including fossil fuels, renewables, and innovative technologies.
  • Experience with international energy projects.
  • Proficiency in a second language.
