Position Overview


We are seeking a knowledgeable Housing Options and Homelessness Assessment Officer who is capable of working independently and efficiently. The ideal candidate will engage with individuals transitioning from incarceration and will be an integral part of the Housing Options duty service, responsible for conducting assessments and implementing prevention and relief strategies.

This role involves managing a diverse caseload and requires familiarity with the Part VII Housing Act 1996, the Homelessness Reduction Act, and other pertinent legislation. Experience in executing homelessness inquiries, case management, and drafting s184 decision letters is essential.

The successful candidate must demonstrate a proven track record in delivering effective Housing Options services under pressure, while adeptly managing the competing demands of the role.

Flexible working arrangements are available, with an expectation of being office-based 50% of the time following the completion of an induction period, which typically lasts between two to four weeks based on individual competency levels.

Office hours are from 9.00am to 5.00pm.
