Staff Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Registered Nurse to join our team in the Short Stay Surgical Unit at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the smooth operation of our unit.
Main Responsibilities- Admit day surgery and inpatients, completing comprehensive assessments and providing safe, quality care to post-operative patients undergoing various surgical procedures.
- Demonstrate excellent clinical decision-making skills, liaising with specialist teams to create and organize post-operative care and provide continuing care to patients post-surgery.
- Be IV competent, venepuncture and cannulation competent, and able to monitor catheters and raise concerns regarding fluid input and output.
- Perform a bladder scan, ECGs, and vital observations, and demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to ensure accurate dissemination of information to patients, relatives, and the multi-disciplinary team.
- Maintain patient dignity and respect, and equality and diversity as per Trust Policies.
- Act as a mentor to junior staff, create a positive learning culture, and support skill acquisition and competency development.
- Provide teaching to all students and new staff as part of an ongoing development programme.
- Participate in local audits and act up as the daily coordinator in the absence of the Ward Manager if required.
- NMC Registered Nurse working in the UK.
- Degree or equivalent in Nursing.
- Mentorship course - MSPP/Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor course and updates.
- Experience as a Band 5 working in a Day Surgery, Surgical, or Recovery environment.
- Experience of working in an acute hospital setting.
- Evidence of further education and training and ongoing learning.
- Experience working with and supporting students and less experienced staff.
