The Role:

As a Research Officer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Leader of the Opposition and the broader opposition group. This is an exceptional opportunity to engage with influential political figures and contribute to the development of policies that shape our community.

This role, structured for part-time engagement, allows for a balanced workload while collaborating closely with the Leader of the Opposition and your supervisor.

Your Responsibilities:

As part of the Governance and Councillor Liaison team, you will:

  • Provide high-quality research, briefing, and casework support to ensure the Leader of the Opposition is well-informed on critical council policies.
  • Engage with senior council officials to address sensitive issues and ensure timely feedback on emerging trends from casework.
  • Commission and draft briefings, speeches, and other materials, while also offering administrative support to facilitate the Leader's responsibilities.
  • Assist the wider opposition group and Committee leads with a diverse range of tasks, from community engagement to in-depth research.

In this dynamic role, you will cultivate relationships with key stakeholders and navigate the political landscape effectively.
