Senior Analyst

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Analyst to join our Performance and Analysis Service (PAS) in Sheffield City Council. The successful candidate will lead on forecasting and analysis processes to ensure sufficiency of school places in Sheffield.

About the Role

The Senior Analyst will work closely with the Education Commissioning Team to ensure they have necessary information to support their strategic planning. The role will also involve responsibility for making the data submissions for the annual statutory School Capacity (SCAP) return to the Department for Education.

The Senior Analyst will work with other support services within the Early Years, Education and Skills directorate, such as the School Admissions Team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a lasting positive impact on the lives of children in Sheffield.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on forecasting and analysis processes to ensure sufficiency of school places in Sheffield
  • Work closely with the Education Commissioning Team to ensure they have necessary information to support their strategic planning
  • Make data submissions for the annual statutory School Capacity (SCAP) return to the Department for Education
  • Work with other support services within the Early Years, Education and Skills directorate
  • Present and communicate complex information to a variety of different audiences
  • Manage the work of an Analyst within the team

Requirements

  • Interest and enthusiasm for improving outcomes for children in the city
  • Willingness to work closely with clients and partners
  • Strong IT and analytical skills
  • Ability to translate customer requirements into workable reporting tools
  • Basic understanding of the benefits and limitations of data and statistical analysis
  • Ability to analyse, interpret and present data
  • Flair for creativity and problem solving
  • Ability to work independently
  • Knowledge or experience of working with specific children's services data is desirable
