The Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the smooth running of the University of Cambridge's buildings and sites as a Facilities Assistant.

The role holder will provide facilities services to buildings and tenants as part of the Facilities Management team, supporting the academic community and contributing to the overall functioning of the University.

The role holder will frequently work non-standard and unsocial hours, sometimes working without direct supervision across multiple buildings and sites.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducting morning or evening site inspections to ensure pre-operation cleaning standards are met, with ad hoc spot cleaning as required.
  • Setting and resetting seminar rooms and lecture theatres to agreed patterns or styles.
  • Transporting, logging, and distributing delivered items and post.
  • Coordinating access for removal companies and logistics for office moves, including assisting where necessary.
  • General maintenance tasks, including hanging noticeboards, making good walls, painting, litter picking, and assisting with waste disposal.
  • Conducting vacant property checks to ensure they are fit for use and secure.
  • Monitoring and policing site car parking, including contact with tenant contacts.
  • Operating various IT systems, both generic and bespoke to Facilities.
  • Providing first response AV support for inoperable equipment in meeting rooms and lecture theatres.
