About Your New Team and Department
You will primarily work within our inpatient dispensary team, contributing to a comprehensive pharmacy service for acute hospital wards, community hospitals, and other patient settings. You'll collaborate with experienced pharmacists, technicians, and assistants to ensure efficient service delivery across all areas of the hospital.
Main Duties of the Job
- Respond to routine inquiries and resolve straightforward issues from patients and wards/specialties regarding medication availability.
- Perform daily stock counts on designated items, verifying expiry dates and reporting any discrepancies to the Dispensary Manager.
- Maintain dispensary stocks by organizing incoming goods ordered by the pharmacy purchasing service.
- Replenish packaging materials essential for dispensing processes, including bottles, cartons, bags, and other supplies.
- As directed by the Dispensary Manager, cover essential reception duties, such as receiving prescriptions and forwarding electronic, faxed, and postal requests to appropriate sections.

Job Responsibilities
- Dispense medications for inpatients and patients being discharged, following the guidance of a Pharmacy Technician. This includes supplying controlled drugs while ensuring accurate record-keeping in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with the pharmacy purchasing service to ensure the availability of out-of-stock medications and pharmaceutical sundries, enabling the completion of outstanding prescriptions.
- Provide patients, patient representatives, staff, and visitors to the Pharmacy Department with efficient and cooperative service. Respond directly to their needs or refer them to the appropriate member of staff when necessary.
