Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical authority on electrical and software standards, providing expert guidance and hands-on support.
  • Lead and manage electrical projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Oversee the design, specification, and procurement of electrical equipment to maintain cutting-edge technology.
  • Compile comprehensive electrical specifications for various installations and equipment.
  • Evaluate the electrical competency of site personnel and ensure their qualifications for electrical tasks.
  • Adhere to site policies and uphold the Electricity at Work Act, ensuring compliance with company engineering standards.
  • Assess contractor suitability concerning electrical standards and maintain safety protocols.

  • Ensure compliance with all statutory electrical legislation and company standards.

Cost Management

  • Track project expenditures against approved budgets to ensure financial discipline.
  • Enhance plant performance through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and implement energy reduction strategies.

Quality Assurance

  • Document recovery procedures for plant and equipment failures.
  • Deliver projects that ensure compliance with product specifications.
  • Ensure all projects adhere to relevant engineering procedures and standards.

People Development

  • Identify training needs for the automation team and electrical crafts.
  • Provide expert assistance in fault diagnosis and repairs across the site.
  • Manage the calibration of instrumentation and controls.
  • Maintain and upgrade PLC systems and documentation.
  • Coordinate the issuance of electrical authorization and competency certificates.
  • Establish and manage electrical inspection and testing procedures.
  • Support maintenance and reliability managers in their activities.
  • Monitor energy usage and lead energy reduction projects.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of HV & LV switchgear.

Essential Experience

  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing plant control systems.
  • Experience in testing and improving manufacturing systems.
  • Proficient in database management and understanding of key data structures.
  • Familiarity with IT architecture for industrial networks.

Desirable Experience

  • Advanced knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP and MES.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Project management experience from concept to execution.
