Job Description

Neo Environmental Ltd, a leading environmental consultancy, is seeking an experienced Ecologist to join their team. As an Ecologist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the environmental sustainability of our clients' projects.

You will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, including renewable energy developments, and will be responsible for conducting ecological surveys, producing comprehensive reports, and liaising with clients and statutory consultees.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ecology, excellent report writing skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. You will also have a good understanding of ecological legislation and regulations, and experience of phase 1 habitat surveys.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Conducting ecological surveys, including phase 1 habitat surveys, protected species scoping surveys, and bat surveys
  • Producing comprehensive reports, including preliminary ecological appraisals, ecological impact assessments, EIA chapters, biodiversity management plans, and protected species reports
  • Liaising with clients and statutory consultees
  • Attending client and site meetings
  • Undertaking ECoW role where required

**Essential Criteria:**

  • Degree in ecology or similar
  • Significant professional report writing experience
  • Good knowledge of ecological legislation and regulations
  • Experience of phase 1 habitat surveys
  • Technically competent
  • Ability to produce reports for clients, requiring attention to detail, reliability, and good organisational skills
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel across the UK, with occasional overnight stays away from home
  • Full driving license and own transport

**Desirable Criteria:**

  • CIEEM accredited
  • Demonstrable post graduate experience in ecology surveys
  • Ornithology experience would be advantageous
  • Bat survey experience
  • GWDTE experience
  • Ecological Clerks of Works (ECoW) experience
  • Knowledge or experience using ArcGIS or similar
  • Other protected species survey experience
