Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a mainstream primary school in Hackney. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting a child with Downs syndrome in key stage 2, working at a lower level than their peers.

About the Role:
  • Support a child with Downs syndrome in key stage 2, working at a lower level than their peers.
  • Work closely with the teaching staff to develop and implement individualized support plans.
  • Assist with lesson planning, preparation, and delivery, ensuring the child's needs are met.
  • Provide one-to-one support to the child, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, such as speech therapists and occupational therapists, to ensure a holistic approach to the child's support.
Requirements:
  • At least 1-year of experience working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs.
  • Experience of working with Downs Syndrome, with a basic understanding of Makaton.
  • A genuine desire to build a career around Special Educational Needs.
  • Experience working with a child with complex needs.
