We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial team at Aster Group. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in providing commercial support to our in-house contracting company, Aster Property.
Your primary responsibility will be to provide assurance to the Aster Group around costs and value for money, from tender assessment to contract monitoring and payment authorisation. You will also be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of pre-contract commercial processes, procurement of our supply chain, and commercial negotiation of contracts.
Key Responsibilities- Provide a professional and cost-effective QS service
- Lead pre-contract commercial negotiations
- Support procurement processes and tender evaluation
- Undertake cost/VFM analysis and workstream reviews
- Contract monitoring, including reporting of changes affecting project costs, volumes, or delivery timescales
- Prepare monthly valuation reports
- Support annual budget and forecasting process
- Attend and contribute to sub-contractor meetings
- Authorise and administer sub-contractor payments and works order variations
- Develop and improve Commercial systems and processes
We are looking for a highly experienced Quantity Surveyor with substantial post-qualification experience in a commercial QS/Estimator role. Experience in the social housing sector is beneficial. You will have strong negotiation skills, be able to work with subcontractors and clients to reach positive commercial terms, and have a good understanding of governance and risk management of supply contracts.
You will have good technical knowledge and skills in the construction sector, a good knowledge of commonly used contracts and frameworks, and be up to date with industry knowledge, innovation, and regulations. Excellent communication skills are essential, with the ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders and provide clear reports.
