Specialty Doctor in Community Forensic Psychiatry

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialty Doctor to join our Inpatient Forensic Psychiatry team at Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will provide medical input support to the team, working closely with consultants and other clinicians to deliver high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide medical input for inpatients on Lagoon ward, working closely with the consultant and other team members to ensure effective patient care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) risk assessments and decisions about treatment, using clinical judgment and expertise to inform patient care.
- Provide general medical care, undertaking physical examinations and organizing relevant investigations as necessary.
- Communicate effectively with the consultant and other team members to ensure adequate supervision of clinical decision-making.
- Attend education meetings as part of ongoing professional development.
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment, with Section approval under the Mental Health Act 1983.
- Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies by time of appointment, in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice.
- Experience of working with adults in a community/inpatient forensic setting within mental health services.
- Clinical judgment and experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk, with a good understanding of the HCR-20 risk assessment tool.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to adapt language as appropriate to the situation.
- Holds and will use a valid UK driving license, or provides evidence of proposed alternative.
