Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team at Catch22 College in Maidstone. As a key member of our educational support staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the success and well-being of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide academic and pastoral support to students, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to deliver lesson plans, aims, and contents, ensuring students receive a high-quality education.
  • Support students with special educational needs, developing and implementing individualized learning plans.
  • Assist with behavioral and special needs issues, working closely with teachers and other support staff to ensure student well-being.
  • Deliver SEN interventions, providing targeted support to students who require additional help.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of curriculum plans, ensuring alignment with educational standards and requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and teachers, providing regular updates on student progress and achievements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date learner files and records, ensuring compliance with educational regulations and standards.
Requirements
  • Hold a Level 2 qualification in English and Maths.
  • Have knowledge of statutory requirements related to health and safety, SEN, and safeguarding of children.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team, supporting students with varying needs and abilities.
  • Demonstrate effective behavior management strategies, ensuring a safe and respectful learning environment.
  • Have experience working with students who have Education Health Care Plans and Special Education Needs, as well as language difficulties or other complex needs.
  • Be committed to raising student achievement and well-being, demonstrating a determination to make a positive impact.
  • Be able to cope with emotionally demanding situations, providing a supportive and empathetic approach to student care.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant in an alternative provision environment.
  • Have an understanding of curriculum requirements, particularly literacy and numeracy standards.
  • Evidence of successful work with disaffected and emotionally vulnerable students, demonstrating a ability to adapt and respond to individual needs.
