Chef Job Description

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a skilled Chef to join our school catering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving school meals, ensuring compliance with nutritional guidelines and budget parameters.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* Plan and prepare meals according to pre-established menus and recipes, considering special dietary requirements.
* Cook and serve food on-site, ensuring high standards of quality and nutrition are met.
* Set up serving and dining areas in line with the menu and other predefined details.
* Interact with children and school staff during food service.
* Oversee the packing and distribution of food for other schools (for production hub kitchens).
* Conduct routine cleaning of kitchen areas and equipment.
* Supervise and direct the activities of onsite staff involved in food production and service.
* Engage with children, parents, and carers to promote school meals and introduce new menus and ideas.
* Manage kitchen logistics, including rotas, safety checks, stock control, and maintaining food safety records.

**Requirements:**

* Proven experience as a Chef, preferably within a school or similar environment.
* Ability to lead and supervise a team effectively.
* Strong understanding of food hygiene and health & safety regulations.
* Excellent cooking skills with the ability to produce a high standard of food.
* Good organisational skills and the ability to work flexibly.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
